The Invitation

This is offered as a place for the teachers (past and present) of the Tamalpa training programs to dialogue on our experience as practitioners of this work. The recent email exchange on the branding and describing the work that it offered as Tamalpa or Tamalpa Life/Art Process demonstrated an interest, and even a yearning, to explore our individual and shared understanding of this work we all seem to love and want to share with others.

I think this is a timely conversation for a lot of reasons. For one there is a certain maturation to the work. Following and deeply informed by the artistic lab of SF Dancer's Workshop, for more than thirty years the Tamalpa Institute has been an extraordinary educational laboratory in the development and articulation of the work. While Daria has taken the primarily lead in articulating the work, which I think she has done quite well, I think an exploration of what it means to all of us would benefit us a great deal, and, perhaps the Institute.

In my view, the primary point of this conversation is to share how we each experience/understand the work, to listen to one another, to appreciate our diversity and affirm our commonalities, and to learn from one another. So I invite you to participate in this blog, and I am happy to facilitate the conversation initially and then move aside and share it with others if desired.

To get started, I would ask who else should be invited to participate. Thinking back on the document Elizabeth and Lian sent us, I ask each of you to identify one or more aspects of the Tamalpa work you think is the most meaningful or has the most value for you. And lastly, if you have suggestion on how to proceed with this dialogue by all means please share them here as well.
